Anchorage Friends of the Library to hold ABW event

Friends of the Library will be hosting its annual meeting and author event during Alaska Book Week. The event is Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the Ann Stevens Room of Z.J. Loussac Public Library in Anchorage. Activities are free and open to the public.

A welcome reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes brief updates from the year's activities, and awards for special volunteers and supporters. The guest speaker is Carol Sturgulewski, author of "White House of the North: Stories from the Alaska Governor's Mansion." The book celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Governor's House, with historic photos and interviews with former governors, family and friends dating back to 1925. Sturgulewski will have a slide presentation of photos from the book, and will sign and sell books afterward.
