Yesterday's winner: Tim Marshall of Craig is the lucky winner of Panhandle Pilot by Bob Adkins, donated by The Babbling Book in Haines. Some of the books not yet written about Alaska that entrants would love to read include a book about historical figures from the early 1900s in Southeast Alaska, a comprehensive history of mining in Southeast Alaska, and profiles of entrepreneurial young Native Alaskans who have made a difference in their home villages through new startups. Anyone feeling inspired?

Gulliver’s Books is hosting two author events during Alaska Book Week: On Saturday, Oct. 5, 5-7pm, meet Erin McKittrick, author of A Long Trek Home and Small Feet, Big Land. On Saturday, Oct. 12, 12–2pm, children's author Claudia Lively will be signing all three of her books at Gulliver's Books. Enjoy 20% off storewide books October 5-6. 1. Any and all work by Sheila Nickerson! Her book Disappearances is both eerie and intensely beautiful.
