Day Seven (October 11): Alaska Book Giveaway!

Featured Bookstore: Old Harbor Books
Featured titles: Sitka: A Home in the Wild by Dan Evans

We’re giving away a book each day of Alaska Book Week. To win today’s featured titles, just answer the question below (one entry per person per day) before midnight today. The winner will be chosen by random drawing and announced on this site and on Facebook tomorrow.

Today’s question:  Which Alaska author would you most like to see featured in an interview on national television? Click here to comment.

Yesterday’s winner: Sandi Shaw of Juneau, who wins The Woman Who Walked with a Bear by John Straley, donated by Old Harbor books in Sitka. A selection of books about Alaska that entrants had last read included The Grizzly Maze by Nick Jans, Sitka Man by Al Brookman Sr, and If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name by Heather Lende.

Sitka’s independent bookstore, Old Harbor Books, was established in 1976 by a group of three book-loving local families. Today, the bookstore is just down the street from its original location, and directed by most of the same folk. They specialize in Alaskan books, and carry a big selection of Alaska picture, history, and kids books, while maintaining an eclectic selection of other good reads.

Old Harbor Books will have select Alaska books on sale at 15% for the week of October 5 - 12.

Old Harbor Books has generously donated two titles to the Alaska Book Week Giveaway: Sitka: A home in the Wild by Dan Evans, and The Woman Who Married a Bear by John Straley.

Thank you, Old Harbor Books!
