We are delighted to report that our loyal sponsors, University of Alaska Press and Epicenter Press, have both contributed to Alaska Book Week again in 2013. We also welcome first-time sponsor Anchorage-based publisher VP&D House. Donations such as these allow us to print and distribute posters and bookmarks and cover other outreach and coordination costs -- which are increasing as participation in the event continues to rise year-by-year.
This year, the Anchorage Barnes and Noble store has committed to supporting Alaska Book Week for the first time! We appreciate the enthusiasm of the Anchorage staff for creating a special event around this annual celebration, with a percentage of book sale proceeds going to Alaska Book Week. Look for more details as plans take shape.
If you have the opportunity, do convey your thanks to these fine organizations for their support.
If you would like to become a sponsor, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

Although Alaska Book Week is still three months away, it's never too soon to celebrate the success of Alaska authors. And they are really making a name for themselves these days! In the run-up to our annual celebration of Alaskan writers and their books, we'll be sharing news of publications and successes - stay tuned.
Last week, Haines author Heather Lende learned that the ebook version of her first book, If You Lived Here I'd Know Your Name, had appeared at No. 17 on the New York Times Bestseller List. Read the full story and offer Heather your congratulations when you next see her (or visit her blog for the latest in her life and literary world). She reports that her dogs are quite pleased but Oprah hasn't called yet.
